CLIFFORD Chance has denied reports that things are going so well at the firm that lawyers will be given a £90 (AUD$168) lingerie allowance.
London newspaper The Evening Standard reported last week that the "ninety nicker knicker allowance", a former policy that allowed lawyers who worked past 11pm to spend the money on new underwear, was back at the firm.
The Guardian followed up on the story in the same week, quoting Selfridges' lingerie buyer on what sort of lingerie the well-knickered lawyers could be spending their allowance on.
But the firm has since denied the reports, and legal news site Roll on Friday quoted a spokesperson from the firm, who said: "There could be circumstances where someone might be able to claim for clean clothes if they were to work very long hours, but the firm does not have an underwear policy."
The same spokesperson said he has no idea where the £90 figure came from.
