BARRISTER Jennifer Davies SC has been appointed a new judge on the Victorian Supreme Court.
Deputy Premier and Victorian Attorney-General Rob Hulls said Davies brought enormous experience to the Supreme Court of Victoria after more than 22 years as a barrister.
"I congratulate Ms Davis on her appointment and I am confident that she will make a significant contribution to Victoria's justice system in the years ahead," Hulls said.
Hulls noted her appearance on a number of high profile commercial, administrative and taxation law cases. She was appointed as a senior counsel in 2004 after an extensive career specialising in taxation law.
The Victorian Government had planned to provide the Supreme Court with an Appropriate Dispute Resolution judge, which Davies was. She practised insolvency and administrative law, and has appeared in the High Court, Supreme Court, Federal Court, and Commonwealth and state administrative tribunals.
Previously she practised as a solicitor at Paveys, now Corrs Chambers Westgarth, in commercial law and litigation. She then moved to Hong Kong to work in trademark law at Deacons.
